Thomas L. Katz, 62, passed away Monday, March 11, 2014 in Arlington, Texas. Tommy was born January 13, 1952 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Hillcrest High School, Dallas, in 1970, and attended University of Texas at Arlington, studying political science. Tommy married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Carol Florence in 1971. They have two children Jennifer and Michael.
Tommy always made it known that his family was the most important thing in his life. He adored and loved spending his time with his grandchildren, Emily and Jacob, especially going to the park and watching old TV shows with them. Tommy had a unique sense of humor, always making people laugh. He had a life-long love of cars and motorcycles and was an avid animal lover. Tommy appreciated all kinds of art and music, both being a part of his life. Most notable, he was a great philanthropist, always donating to several different causes and organizations.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Kitty and Walter Katz, stepfather, Herbert Jacob, mother and father-in-law, Mike E. and Barbara Florence.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Paul O’Connor; son Michael Katz and his girlfriend Jessica Lorenz; grandchildren Emily Grace and Jacob Thomas O’Connor; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Ron Ruckman, his brother-in-law and his wife Mike and Gale Florence; nieces, Christine Lucht and Ashley Marlow, nephews, Ryan Ruckman, Chase Lewis, and Geoff Florence.
Private services are being held March 14, 2014 at Sparkman Hillcrest, Dallas, Texas.
