Nora Smith, 102, of Palmyra, passed away on Thursday, March 13th, 2014 in the Lebanon Valley Brethren Home, Palmyra. She was born on June 18th, 1911, on a small farm in South Annville Township. She was one of 12 children, raised two nieces, Victoria and Jeanette, and cared for her mother. She was the daughter of the late Christian B. and Ida N. Hostetter Smith. Ms. Smith was retired from Laudermilch Meats and from various sewing factories, including Lusberg’s, Milsan Mills and Demford Manufacturing. She attended a one room grammar school in Pleasant Site. She enjoyed quilting and was known for making opera fudge. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Lebanon. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held in Lebanon Valley Brethren Home Chapel, 1200 Grubb Rd., Palmyra, Pa, 17078 on Friday, March 21st, 2014 at 11:00AM with her pastor Rev. Barry S. Kendall officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Gingrich’s Mennonite Cemetery.
