Don served in the United States Air Force in Germany during the Korean Conflict era. Upon his honorable discharge, he relocated to California, residing in Los Angeles and Costa Mesa before settling permanently in Huntington Beach. He began a career as a Special Education teacher and grew to be very devoted, concentrating on children with severe disabilities and shortened life expectancy. During his teaching career he took courses in dog grooming, and after retirement from the school system he continued to practice this art.
Don was a world traveler, having visited Italy, France, Portugal, Peru, Argentina, Hawaii, and many other places. He loved old movies, including silent films, and loved making VHS tapes showing “just the good parts” of his favorites. Don himself was interested in photography, and he and his brothers liked making funny home movies. He was also very fond of animals, particularly monkeys and gorillas.
Mr. Fasching was preceded in death by his three brothers and a sister.
He is survived by a nephews John, Sonny, Bobby, Ron, Billy, Gary Rod, Jon Chad and Jerry and nieces Mary, Patty, Robin, Carol, Linda and Pami.
Don’s wishes were to have his ashes scattered with military honors in Oahu, Hawaii.
