He moved to Castleford, Idaho in 1966 and married his first wife Sharon Schorzman on June 17th, 1967. Larry and Sharon had 3 children; Larry James House, Lora Lee House, and Mari Christine House (Nelson). Larry and Sharon divorced in 1988. He later married Vicky Benkula on September 6th, 1999. Larry was a Step-Father to Vicky’s daughter; Kris Rambur. Larry had 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Larry was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed learning to do anything mechanical. During his lifetime he served in the US Army and he worked as a cow hand, farmer, mechanic, drafter, engineer, police officer, and truck driver. Larry graduated from the College of Southern Idaho with an AAS in drafting and later with a POST Certificate in Law Enforcement. Larry was especially proud of his 20 years of public service in law enforcement. Larry was employed with the Twin Falls City Police Department, Twin Falls County Sherriff’s Office as a jailer, and later retired from the Buhl City Police Department in 1998. Larry spent his retirement years with his best friend Vicky and they enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with their children.
Larry was preceded in death by his daughter Laura; Uncle Al; Uncle Clarence; Uncle Tom; parents Dale and Vera; step-father Jerry; sister Debbie; brother Tony.
Larry passed away at his home on March 14th, 2014 surrounded by his adopted doggies Gabby and Pepper. Larry did not wish to have a funeral service. The family will hold a wake on Sunday, April 6th, 2014 at noon at 236 Bellevue Court in Twin Falls, Idaho.
The family respectfully asks that donations in Larry’s name be made to the Twin Falls Animal Shelter to honor his memory.
