Richard S. Walker, 62, of Homosassa, passed away on Fri., March 14, 2014 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center. A native of Jasper, AL, he was born May 5, 1951 to Ernest and Cora (Mai) Walker, one of four children. Mr. Walker was a 27 year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service, serving at the Crystal River Post Office his entire career. Richard moved to Citrus County in 1981 and served his country in the U.S. Navy for 8 years and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Saratoga. Mr. Walker held a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. He was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church of Homosassa, serving as a deacon, bus driver, Sunday School teacher, and in especially any capacity where the children of the church were involved. Richard loved the Lord , his family, his “bus kids”, the mountains, camping, and taking walks with his dog, Mojo. He touched lives in quiet, simple ways and will be truly missed by all. Mr. Walker is survived by his wife of nearly 18 years, Theresia A. Walker, Homosassa; three children; Preston “David” Hall (wife Krystal), Ocala; daughter Chrissa LaFleur (significant other Jammie Jones), Ocala; Ivan “Burt” Hall (wife Kerry), Charlotte, NC; brothers Ernie Walker, Crossville, TN; David Walker, Yankeetown and Jeffrey Walker, Sr., Homosassa; grandchildren Jeremiah, Emily, Klara, Josiah, Amber (husband Nate), Ali (husband Richard), Ashley (husband Ryan), Stephen, Jessica (husband Therman), Kylee, Kenzie and Ivan III and great grandchildren Jayson, Trinity, Gabriel, Novalynn and William; nephew Jeffrey Walker, Jr. and nieces Monika and Linsey Walker. Richard was preceded in death by a son, Jason Hall, in 2008. Friends will be received on Thurs., March 20, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Homosassa, where a funeral service will commence at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Alan Ritter officiating, preceded by military honors rendered by American Legion Post 155 and the U.S. Navy.
