Charles M. “Charlie” Wade, 88, went to his heavenly home Saturday, March 15, 2014. Born in Somerville, Mass., he attended Somerville schools. He boarded the USS Ticonderoga (CV-14) as a “Plank Owner” at age 18 and served three years in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Homosassa and the USS Ticonderoga Assoc., enjoying many ship reunions, cruising, and doing jig saw puzzles, many of which were displayed in his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Guy and Agnes Wade, and five siblings. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernice “Bunny” Wade; daughter, Donna Wade; son, Bill Wade; and grandchildren, Julie and Michael Wade. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Homosassa.
