Marian was a graduate of the Rice Institute, where she received her bachelor’s degree, and the University of Texas, obtaining a Masters of Social Work. Marian followed her education by helping others at several service organizations. She finished her professional career at the Houston Methodist Hospital, focusing on helping patients on the transplant service.
Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Ingraham Wheeler, Jr. They were married on January 21, 1956. She is survived by her son, John “Jay” Ingraham Wheeler, III, his wife Gwen and their four children Laura, Lesli, Melissa and Jubel; her son Kevin Devereaux Wheeler, MD, his wife Susan and their three sons, Kevin, Graham, and Ross; her daughter Marian Martha Wheeler Pike, her husband Robert and their two children Jonathon and Jessica; and her daughter Genevieve Jessica Tighe Wheeler Tucker, her husband Bill and their two children Jack and Meridy. Additionally, Marian had five great-grandchildren. Marian is also survived by her brother Devereaux Maitland Huffman and his family along with her sister Katherine Bobo and her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Cecilia CatholicChurch, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, Texas 77024. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
