Arthur Wayne Young passed from this earth on April 5, 2014. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. His funeral will be Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Bryan Blass officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. He was born April 22, 1921, in Landersville to Arthur Bone Young and Viola Jackson Young. The youngest of eight children, he grew up in Landersville and graduated in 1938 from Lawrence County High School. He attended Emory University in Atlanta prior to being drafted into the United States Army during World War II. He served as a medic in the Philippines after it was retaken by U.S. Forces and later as part of the occupying forces in Japan. On November 11, 1948, he married Beulah Pryor Young of Decatur. Their marriage endured for 60 years until her death in 2008. Their union produced five children, Steven Wayne Young of Birmingham; Roger Pryor Young of Alpharetta, Georgia; Pam Young Vice of Hartselle; Dottie Young Hulvey of Birmingham; and Yancy Brian Young of Hartselle. Wayne is survived by his children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and siblings, William Reason Young, John Julian Young, Thomas Floyd Young, Mable Lee Young, Joe Clark Young, Laura May Young Jackson and Harold Frank Young. Pallbearers will be Harry, James, Graham and Nathan Vice, Chris, Christian and Taylor Hulvey and Collin and Nicolas Young.
