CHAPIN – Funeral services for Willie Bernett “Pete” Derrick, 87, of Chapin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Chapin. Reverend Larry Hagerty will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel.
Born July 7, 1926 to the late Bill and Ruth Bickley Derrick, he passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and proudly served during World War II. Mr. Pete was a life-long resident of Chapin and well known as the owner of Derrick’s Phillips 66.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Frances Slice Derrick; his children, Mary Ann Bouknight, Shirley (Ricky) Lindler, Larry (Susan) Derrick, Brenda (Donnie) Slice and Tommy Derrick; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, “Slick” and Rothell Derrick and Judy Price.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and Whitey Derrick and sister, Pattie Krell.
Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
