Barry was born on July 14, 1983 in New Bern, NC. He grew up in Vanceboro, attending Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary, West Craven Middle School, and graduating from West Craven High School in 2001. He attended East Carolina University for a short time. He loved playing sports—baseball, football, wrestling, and he loved racing. Barry, like all of the other grandchildren, worked in the family business, Kite's Supermarket, through his childhood. This is where he learned how to treat people and use his personal charm on everyone he met. He worked at Gold's Gym in New Bern, NC for a number of years as a personal trainer. He loved this kind of work so much and all of the people he met through this job. He wanted everyone to be healthy and fit. He later moved with his wife to West Virginia where Jonda's family resides. Barry tried his hand at being a car salesman at River City Subaru, but just a couple of weeks before his death went back to doing what he loved the most, working at the gym as a personal trainer. This Gym was Power Up in Teays Valley, WV where he worked for Taylor Stillpass, a wonderful friend. We are so happy that Barry made this change when he did.
Barry will be remembered as a loving husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to all of us. He loved working out, being on his crazy diets, being in bodybuilding competitions, playing and watching sports, going to the pool and beach, traveling with his wife and friends, and loving life. Barry was very competitive and wanted to be successful in all his endeavors; he wanted to please everyone. He had a heart of gold. We will miss him so much.
