Vickie Lyn Travaline nee Brigham passed away peacefully on April 18, 2014 after a three and one half year battle with blood cancer. She fought bravely but succumbed while in hospice care at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The staff of Oncology and Hematology and MICU have our undying gratitude for their competent and compassionate care.
Vickie graduated from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, PA with a degree in Theology and earned a certificate in Directing Ignacian Spirituality from Fairfield University, Fairfield CT. She was a licensed RN.
Vickie devoted much of her life to providing opportunities for her children. For her oldest, born with significant developmental disabilities, she was fearsome advocate. For her son and youngest daughter, she strove to give them experiences that would expand their horizons.
She is survived by and will be sorely missed by Frank, her husband of 38 years, her daughter Jessie, her son Michael and his wife Jasmine, her daughter Kaela and her husband Phillip, her grandchildren Nicholas, Anastasia, Alexander, and Theodore, her brother Craig and his wife Joanna of Hermon, ME, and her brother Glenn and his wife Geri of New Fairfield, CT.
A memorial gathering will be held at Blake-Doyle Funeral Home, 226 Collings Avenue, Collingswood, NJ on Tuesday eve 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Old St. Joseph’s Church, 321 Willings Alley, Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday 10 am where friends may call from 9am till time of service.
