sudden stroke. She was 62. Andee was born to Baxter Abbott Sparks, Jr., and Mary Jean
(Wheeler) Sparks, on September 25, 1951. She is survived by her husband George,
children Gentry, Baxter, Hilary, and Anne, and eight grandchildren, as well as her father
and her brothers Braden and Ryan.
Andee was born and raised in Dallas. She graduated from Hillcrest High School, the
University of Texas, and she earned a Certificate of Biblical Studies from Dallas
Theological Seminary in 2012.
Andee loved her family and cared deeply for her husband, children and her
grandchildren, who called her “Grandee.” She spent the last years of her life traveling
from Dallas to Northern and Southern California, Alaska, and Washington State to help
her children with their young and growing families. Doing so was the greatest joy of her
life. Andee always had a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. She was loving,
persevering, thoughtful, hard-working, and a deeply committed Christian.
For many years she taught a Bible study on Proverbs 31 to young married women and
remained a friend and mentor to many of them for life. She was especially drawn to
helping women suffering from cancer or other debilitating diseases after having helped
her own mother, who died of cancer at age 48.
She was constantly involved in Bible studies, traveled to Russia, Colombia and other
countries as a lay missionary, and counted many D.T.S. faculty and their families as close
friends. She organized and helped run Luke’s Locker, a used-clothing outlet for seminary
students. An artist all her life, she loved to paint with watercolors, illustrated stationary,
and found joy in beauty wherever she encountered it.
Andee was a joy to all who knew her. She rests now in glory in the arms of her beloved,
faithful and loving Savior, Jesus Christ. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly
missed.
A memorial service will be held at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas on Friday May 2 at
3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dallas Theological Seminary or
your local church.
