Bill was born on May 19, 1922, in Fisher County, Texas. He was raised on a farm during the Great Depression. He joined the Army in 1940 and fought in World War II in the Pacific Campaign with General MacArthur. He received a Purple Heart for injuries he received in the battle at Luzon.
When Bill returned from the war he met and married his eternal companion, Patty June Wood. They were married on June 7th, 1946.
Bill retired from duPont/Remington Arms where he sold guns and ammunition. He is an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a passion for his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandparent. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, camper and outdoorsman. He also loved to travel.
Bill is survived by his wife June, his children: Paula (Mike), Merak (Karen), and Victoria (Floyd); grandchildren: Michael, Laura, Leticia, Tamara, Mathew, Lindsay and Lisa; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Emery Joe Brown (Glenna) of Phoenix, AZ; one sister-in-law Nicki Richardson (Rich) of Bellingham, WA and one brother-in-law Daniel A. Wood (Diane) of Benson, AZ.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00am, Monday, May 12th, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Country Gables Ward, 15001 N. 39th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, followed by interment at 12:30pm at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ. Flowers may be sent to A. L. Moore-Grimshaw, 710 W Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix, AZ. Donations may be made in his name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E Flower St, Phoenix, AZ.
