Rune Borgman, 85, of Harwich, beloved husband of Marion S. Borgman and father of Dana, Cathleen and Tom Borgman, passed away on May 11 after a brief illness. Rune was born on June 7, 1928 in Valdemarsvik, Sweden.
A veteran of the Swedish Merchant Marines and of the United States Army, he served in the Korean War where he earned his United States citizenship. Rune was retired from Bridgeport Machines, Inc., where he had met his future wife of 59 years. He was a master machinist and craftsman, as well as a tireless volunteer, serving many years with the Boy Scouts, the Lions Club, Junior Achievement and the Vasa Order. He also enjoyed participating in the local model boat club.
In addition to his immediate family, Mr. Borgman leaves daughters-in-law: Carolyn Borgman, Cindy Borgman, grandchildren: Emily, Daniel and Erin Borgman of Connecticut and Katie Borgman of Virginia as well as several loved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Emanuel and Fanny and a brother, Hans, all of Sweden.
His kindness and generosity of spirit were truly an inspiration to all. He was one of a kind and will be profoundly missed by all those who knew him.
