China Grove-Margaret Edna "Sis" Alexander Seamon, 101, went home to live eternally with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Amy 22, 2014, at Liberty Commons Nursing Center. Margaret was born December 31, 1912, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Frances "France" Elwood and Georgia VanDora "Dora" Winecoff Alexander. Margaret was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Davidson, NC until 1930. Then she became a diligent disciple for Christ at First United Methodist Church of China Grove, where she taught Sunday school, was a faithful member of the United Methodist women, Mattie Eller Circle, Women's Bible Study, as well as many other church activities. If the door was open, Margaret was there working along side many of her friends, especially Annie and Lucille Faggart, and Gert Cartner. She was presented the UMW recognition pen for faithful service to the church. Many of the Alexander family that had worked at Cascade Mill in Mooresville until it's closing in 1929, decided that the family needed to move to China Grove to work in the mills. Margaret worked for China Grove Cotton Mill until retiring in 1970.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death (May 2, 1987) by her husband, James Lee Seamon, to whom she had married May 30, 1931. Also preceding her were her brothers, James "Bub" Alexander (Polly), Boyce Alexander (Clara), Mack and Leroy Alexander (Ruth) and Wallace "Wob" Alexander (Bea); and her sisters, Mary Martha Alexander Nichols (Glenn), and Annie Frances Alexander Morris (Clyde).
Family members left to cherish her memory include her four devoted sons, William Seamon (Grace), Tommy Seamon (Venay), Jimmy Seamon and Ronald "Butter" Seamon (Brenda); 8 grandchildren, Billie Bellevieu, Julie Hooper, Pam Austin (Jeff), Lisa Shores (Monty), Scott Seamon (Carrie Cirba), Rhonda Jones (Alan), John Seamon, and Todd Seamon (Lisa), her 12 great-grandchildren, Michael Bellivieu, Cody Shores, Kyle Shores (Leah), Dalton and Austin Seamon, Erin Hooper, Alex Austin, Ryan Jones, Jared and Tyler Seamon, Coralie Jones (Corie) and Mason Cirba; brother, Jack Alexander (Juanita); sister-in-law, Blanche Alexander; brother-in-law, Clyde Morris,; and many nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Aunt Sis".
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 1:00-2:00 pm in the parlor of First United Methodist Church in China Grove. Funeral services to celebrate her life will begin at 2:00 in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. George Yates, pastor. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret, may be made to First United Methodist Church, c/o Building Fund, 110 West Church Street, China Grove, NC 28023, or to Liberty Commons Hospice, 1007 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, NC 27360.
The family would like to thank the staff at Liberty Commons in Salisbury for the compassionate, loving care given to Margaret in the years since she entered the facility in November 2005.
