He is survived by his two daughters: Beth (Jason) Wagner of Chicago and Aprill "Bones" Cook of Riverton, one son David "Hause" Cook of Springfield, his mother Doris Emma Jane Estes of Springfield, eight sisters: Barbara Furgeson of Summerville, S.C., Michele (Perry) Lee of Canton, N.C., Patricia (Mel) Creviston of Rochester, Linda (Clarence) Reeves of Talbotton, GA., Eileen (Bob) DiBartolomeo of Mechanicsburg, Ruth Estes of Dallas, TX., Connie Estes of LaGrange Park, IL., and Doreen Claybourn of Springfield, two brothers: Roger Estes of Springfield, and Charles Estes of Oklahoma City, OK., his long time family friend Shari Block of Springfield, two grandchildren: Joshua Hamm and Joshua Wagner, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and his rottweiler Hitler. He was preceded in death by his daughter Breanna Estes, his father Archur Estes, and siblings: Betty Ann, Archur Estes, Jr., Gloria Ackerman, and Clara J. Lay.
David enjoyed cooking and attended the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago studying culinary art, and he cooked at several restaurants in town. He was also a self employed carpenter who enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, music, boxing, the Green Bay Packers, and NASCAR watching Jimmie Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday June 9, 2014 at Chatham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bisch and Son Funeral Home to assist the family, please call 217-544-5424 to contribute.
