SPRINGFIELD, IL- Judith Lynn "Judy" Pence, 72, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at Villa Health Care East in Sherman.
Judy was born March 7, 1942, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen (Heise) Whitmore.
Judy was a lifetime resident of Springfield graduating form Lanphier High School. She received her bachelor's degree in social work from Sangamon State University and her master's degree in social work from the University of Illinois. Judith had worked for the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services for many years until she retired. Outside of work Judy enjoyed trying her luck at the boats in Alton and Peoria.
Surviving Judy are her daughter, Lisa Ann Parks (fiancé, Adam Risley) of Springfield; sister, Marilyn K. Tate of Springfield; nephews: Larry (Chris) Kutscher of Springfield, Gary (Maria) Kutscher of Huntington Beach, CA, Rob (Melissa) Kutscher of San Ramon, CA, and David (Heather) Whitmore of Pawnee, IL; niece, Connie (Brian) Small of Galatia, IL; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by former husbands, Tom Parks and Jim Pence.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Marilynne Whitmore; her brothers-in-law, Harry Kutscher and Dean Tate; and nephew, Harry Lee Kutscher.
Cremation rites were accorded by Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen St., Springfield, IL 62703, where a celebration of life gathering will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014, with a prayer service led by Pastor Greg Busboom to end the evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Memorial Home Services Hospice of Springfield, IL, the American Cancer Society, or the American Diabetes Association.
