Suzanne was born in Ames, Iowa on November 8, 1929 to parents Ura and Pauline Beauchamp. They lived in Carlisle, Iowa with her Grandfather, Grandmother (Bert and Nellie Sanders) and her Aunt Tressa in her early childhood.
Suzanne grew up in the small farm town, Grimes, Iowa and was very close to her family and friends. She loved children from an early age, taught bible school and ang in a girl’s choir while in High School. Suzanne was very devoted to everyone she loved. She remained close friends with her childhood friends her entire life.
Suzanne went to the University of Iowa, graduating in 1951 with a degree in Art History. It was here she met her husband of 60 years, James Ransom. James served in the Army Pacific during WWII and was in the Air Force ROTC at the University of Iowa while he completed his degree in Business. They were married after they graduated in 1951.
Jim began his career in the Air Force immediately after their honeymoon. During this period they were stationed at Davis Mothan and they fell in love with Tucson which led to their later decision to move to Tucson after retirement.

Jim left the Air Force in 1958 to spend more time with his family and he and Suzanne moved to Florida. There Jim worked in the space programs at NASA. In 1958, their son David Ransom was born and in 1960 Kimberly was born. In 1965 tThey moved to Massachusetts in 1965 where Jim worked for RCA.
Suzanne was a Cub Scout pack leader and she was always involved in church activities. She was always helping out friends going through rough times and she did a lot of charity work. She loved helping out other people.
She had a deep and steadfast faith and love for Christ throughout her life. She was a very intuitive and easy-going woman who had a gift for caring about other people. She could always strike a conversation and she was also a great listener who always made you feel what you had to say was important to her.
Suzanne went to work as a secretary for the President at the University of Lowell after her kids started school. She had always wanted to continue her education so she also went to night school and earned her Master’s degree in English and Reading Teaching. She found that she really enjoyed her job at the University though, so she opted to stay in that position rather than going into teaching.
Jim went to work at Raytheon in the 1970s and stayed there until his retirement in 1989. Then Sue also retired from the University and they moved to Tucson. Their grandchildren Elizabeth and Melissa Ransom also lived in Arizona so they were happy that they would get to spend more time with their grandchildren.
While in Tucson, Suzanne was member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. There she taught a Presbyterian Woman’s circle for a number of years. She also was very involved in charity work. She volunteered at Mountain View Care, modeled in charity fashion shows and sponsored young women in the Youth on Their Own program. She also helped out with her sorority Alpha Chi Omega. On top of all these good works she still wanted to do more so she became a Stephen’s Minister and she served as a Deacon in her church.
