She was a native of Texas and had been a resident of Moss Bluff for 25 years, moving from Iowa, Louisiana. Jean was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed watching wrestling and the dirt track races, and also enjoyed crafting. She attended Gateway Church of God and Westlake Church of God. She did a great deal of volunteer work in the community. Jean had worked for many years for CARC providing care and relief to caregivers.
Survivors include her children, Steve Cape and wife, Vickie of Moss Bluff, Charles Herbert Cape, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas, and Sherry Cape Marchand of New Braunfels, Texas; two siblings, Stephen Marchand, Jr. and Martha Calloway; six grandchildren, Charles Herbert Cape, III, Janie Cape, Sarah Cape, Ricky Cape, Sarajean Cape, and Christopher Brian Schroeder; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Kyle Schroeder and Camryn Reese Schroeder. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Cape, Sr; a son, Ricky Allen Cape; and a grandson, Bradley Kyle Schroeder.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, in Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff. The Revs. Richard Rials and Richard Watson will officiate.
