Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 18, at Connally Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with son-in-law, Dave Davis, officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas.
The Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
Charles was born in Pearl, Texas November 3, 1923 to William and Octavia Bynum. He attended school at Pearl and was drafted into the Army immediately after graduation. He was involved in World War II in France and Germany. He was wounded and sent to a military hospital where he recovered and was sent back to the front to join his unit, the 44th Division. When the war was over, he was discharged and came home. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
Charles went to work as an electrician for Jordan Electric Company in Waco, which he and his partner bought later, becoming Bynum and Tanner Electric Co. He retired at age 65 to manage and farm a ranch near Gatesville.
He married Juanita Lee Bynum and to them was born three daughters, Annette, Patti and Sherry. He was a faithful member of the Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by granddaughter, Erin Elizabeth Davis, and 8 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughters, Annette Davis and husband Dave of Athens, Patti Dolen and husband Bill of Eastland, and Sherry Rhoads and husband Leonard of Georgetown; and grandchildren, Andrea Hefley and husband John, Haley Rhoads and Jacob Rhoads both of Georgetown.
Memorials may be made to Fosters Children’s Home in Stephenville, Texas.
