Col. Richard Plack, USAF, Ret., of Pensacola Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014.
Richard was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and moved to Pensacola as a child. He joined the Air Force after graduating from the University of Florida. On January 16, 1953 he married Charlotte Sims of Pensacola and together they had four children. During his 32 years of service in the Air Force he spent 12 months in Vietnam with the 182nd Redhorse squadron (The Dirty Boys), building Phu Cat AFB. His career took him and his family to airbases around the world. He retired to Pensacola in 1980.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte; children, Susan Hayes (Mike), Celia Molina (Mark), Jacob Plack (Melissa), and daughter-in-law Linda Plack; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed gourmet cooking and building model trains. He was especially fond of time spent with family. He will be remembered as a loving husband father and grandfather with a big heart. His children will always remember him encouraging and supporting them throughout their lives in all their endeavors. He will be sorely missed by the many that loved him.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014, 2PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project.
