Carolann Hartmann lost her battle with cancer on July 5, 2014. Considerate to the end, she took her last breath when all had left the room so no one would live with the guilt of being helpless at such a heart wrenching moment.
Carolann was born on April 19, 1965 to Cheryl (O’Dwyer) Hartmann and Ross Hartmann in Glendale, California. She spent her early years in Burbank and then Sun Valley. In High School, she was in the All City Band for the City of Los Angeles, as well as an accomplished softball player for Polytechnic High School.
Following high school, she went to vocational school and became a medical assistant, which lead to her career in vocational education. This path took her to UEI. UEI became her second home. As she moved up the ranks at UEI, she educated and mentored many. She continued to work at UEI until close to the end of her time with us. She loved the school, staff and students.
Carolann’s greatest accomplishment is her daughter Hannah Hartmann. Hannah is her pride and joy. Carolann’s desire for success has rubbed off on Hannah and will be with her for all of Hannah’s life. Carolann showered her daughter with love, guidance and the tools that all parents wish to pass onto their children. Carolann’s legacy has helped Hannah develop into the loving daughter that she has become. Throughout Carolann’s illness Hannah was a pillar of strength for her mother, family and extended family.
Carolann is survived by daughter, Hannah, her wife, Appoline her mother (Cheryl), Father (Ross), step parents (Patrick O’Dwyer and Susan Hartmann); her partner Appolline Couprie, her sisters and brothers: Mary “Katie”, Renee, Michael, Patrick and Ross; step sisters and brothers: Claudina, Bernadette, Shannon and Brandon.
Carolann had a positive, loving impact, on all of us. We love her and will miss her.
