He was born in Manchester, CT on October 11, 1948, the son of Ernest Christian and Dorothea (Haberen) Linders. He grew up in Manchester and was a 1966 graduate of Manchester High School.
He served in the US Army with the 9th Infantry in Vietnam for several years. Afterwards, he attended Keene State College.
Mr. Linders married Lynne Runde in 1972 at the Center Congregational Church in Manchester, CT.
He worked in construction mostly as an independent contractor, though at different times he also worked for both MacMillan Construction Group and Baybutt Construction for various projects.
Mr. Linders was a member of the Masons, Charity Lodge #18 and also a Shriner. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Paquoig Lodge in Marlborough, and The American Legion, Croteau-Coutts Post #24. Earlier in his life, he was a Boy Scout Leader as well.
He also served on the Monadnock Advisory Board and the Marlborough Conservation Commission, testing the water quality of Stone Pond for the past 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing, boating and renovating the old farm house he and his wife owned in Maine. Mr. Linders could fix just about anything including cars, motorcycles and boats.
His family remembers him as quick witted, generous with his time and talents and that he loved the outdoors
Mr. Linders is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lynne Linders of Marlborough; his son Ernest “Ethan” Linders, and wife Elizabeth Moran-Linders, of Aurora, ME; his brother Lawerence Linders, and wife Reges, of Arlington, MA; his sister Christine Linders of Bellingham, WA; mother-in-law Doris Ann Runde of Manchester, CT; sister-in-law Janice Bouley, and husband William, also of Manchester, CT; and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Linders will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Federated Church of Marlborough. Rev. Nancy Wood will officiate. There are no public calling hours. Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH are assisting with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Ernest Linders’ name to Fast Friends Greyhound Rescue, 44 West Swanzey Rd., Swanzey, NH 03446.
