LEXINGTON- Mr. Toby Wayne Minick passed away at the Brian Center St. Andrews on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends and family from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints, 2224 Augusta Road, Lexington. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Family burial to follow at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Minick’s name to the LDS Philanthropies, Mission Fund, 15 E. South Temple St. JSMB 2 E, Salt Lake City, UT 84150. Mr. Minick was born August 31, 1941 in Newberry, SC. He was the son of William Meadors Minick and Mildred Wallenzine Minick. He attended Newberry Schools and graduated Newberry High School in 1959. He attended the University of South Carolina and was a graduate of Officer Candidate School with the S.C. National Guard. He served in the US Army and SC National Guard. He retired as a regional manager with the Unijax Paper Company of Columbia.
He was a colorful storyteller who enjoyed dancing, cooking, working in the yard. He loved to watch the USC Gamecocks and the FSU Seminoles football games. He adored his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by a loving daughter, Stephanie Gugel of Lexington and son, Sam (Gill) of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren, Dylann and Carson Gugel; three devoted sisters, Brenda Frazier (Rhett) and Elaine Cornwell (Woody) of Newberry and Sandra Minick (Bob) of Columbia.
Mr. Minicks’s family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of the Brian Center for their continued care and support. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home Lexington Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
