Vicente Baylon Alvela was born on February 8, 1931 in the Philippines. He was brought into this world by Ramon Alvela and Pilar Baylon along with his sister and brothers; Anita, Rodolfo, Ernesto, Jose, and Ramon Jr. They were all raised in Laguna, Philippines.
In May 1964, he married Angelina Alvela at San Roque Catholic Church in Cabrera, Philippines. They were blessed with four beautiful children; Alfredo, Celina, Josephus and Teresa. While raising four kids, he worked as a delivery driver for Amalgamated Specialties Corporation(AMSPEC). He served AMSPEC for 25 years before retiring to move to the United States with his wife Angelina. He stayed with his oldest son, Alfredo, and worked as a housekeeper at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. There, he was awarded a certificate of completion for Environmental Services Foundations Course Completion and Skills Demonstration on February 04, 1996.
In 1996, he decided to retire for good and move to San Diego with his oldest daughter where his wife had been staying. After retiring, he enjoyed walking at the park or store and taking a bus or trolley ride around town. That was his routine until about 2004 when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's. Despite his diagnosis, he still continued doing things he enjoyed. As years pass by, his health declines which made difficult for him to enjoy life but that did not stop him.
He lived whats left of his life to the fullest with the help of his loving family. After a long battle against Parkinson's, on July 16, 2014, he passes away at 8:15 pm. He is survived by his wife; Angelina Alvela, sons; Alfredo Alvela and Josephus Alvela, daughters; Celina Alvela and Teresa Santos.
9 grandchildren; Joseph C. Alvela, Joseph P. Alvela, Michael Alvela, Audrey L. Alvela,
Alfredo Alvela Jr, Antionnette Alvela, Amber Alvela, Jennalyn Alvela and Rovin Alvela.
6 great grandchildren; Jazlyn Sphabmixay, Kayla Sphabmixay, Vincent D. Alvela, Joseph D. Alvela, Ana L. Alvela and Jayan T. Alvela.
