Rev. Albertson was born on August 11, 1923 in Guilford County to the late William Ernest and Lauretta McCauley Albertson. On December 14, 1941, he married the former Lillie Marie Nifong, who preceded him in death on June 16, 2007. Following their marriage, Rev. Albertson entered the United States Navy, serving in World War II. Rev. Albertson was called to full time ministerial service and graduated from Olivet Nazarene College, south of Chicago. Upon graduation, he, Marie and Bud moved to Canada to serve in “Home Missions” for the Church of the Nazarene in Eastern Canada from 1951 until 1987. Upon their retirement they returned home to their North Carolina roots, where he and Marie attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are his children, Catherine Williams and her husband Kenneth of Ridgecrest, NC, and C.R. “Bud” Albertson and his wife Phyllis of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Norman Albertson of Winston-Salem, Melodie Warren of Candler, and Andrew McGruder and his wife Colleen of Charlotte; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Eli, and Tate; and his sister, Lauretta Hunt of Winterville, NC.
A celebration of Rev. Albertson’s life will be held at 3 pm Monday in the Bethany Hall of Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church in Thomasville with Rev. Dr. E. Keith Carroll and Rev. Marty Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Bethany Hall.
