Funeral services for James “Jim” C. Cummins, 89, of Anniston will be Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church with the Reverend Chris Hartley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mr. Cummings passed away Thursday at NHC Nursing Home in Anniston.
Survivors include a brother, Pat Cummins (Barbara) of Knoxville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and his little dog Amy.
Mr. Cummins is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Frances Ruth Cummins, step-son, Kenneth Watson Chatman Sr.; grandson, Kenneth Watson Chatman Jr.; parents, William James and Sallie Cummins; Brothers, Billy Cummins and Charles Cummins; and sisters, Martha Jensen and Opal McClain.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Mr. Cummins was from Tennessee living there most of his life, but later moved to Anniston the hometown of his wife. Mr. Cummins was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked and retired from Southeastern Industrial Construction Company and K-mart of Tennessee. Mr. Cummins was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and playing with his little dog, Amy. He was a very kind, loving, and Christian man. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at NHC and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and special attention given during this difficult time for our loved one. A very special and loving thanks to Hermanda Bailey of NHC. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to St. Michael and All Angels Church or the American Cancer Society.
