ETHEL MACEY (nee McQuaid), age 94, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2014. She was born in Canton, Ohio to Harry Winchester McQuaid and Ethel Bogert McQuaid on July 9, 1920. Ethel was raised in Detroit, MI and Canton, OH. In 1937 she graduated from McKinley High School in Canton. She went to the Cleveland Institute of Art, graduating in 1941 with a major in illustration. She worked as an illustrator, doing fashion drawings for department store newspaper ads. In 1946, she married Keith Sherwood Macey. They were married for 43 years, until his death in 1990. Their life revolved around boats, both sailing and power boats. They spent most evenings in the summer and most vacations on their boat. They were long time members of the Cleveland Yacht Club. Ethel also painted many portraits. They had three children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John, her husband, Keith, her longtime companion, Don Allen and her granddaughter, Cynthia and Cynthia's husband, Joshua. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Cortsen (Dan) of Sandy, Utah, son Harry Macey of Chino Valley, AZ and stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Macey) Moyer of LaGrange, OH.
