Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was awarded a
bronze star for his service during WW II in Italy. He was retired from Sears after 35 years as a display manager. Mr. Castello was a very creative person who put his talents for design and display to good use volunteering for the Tee Pee organization, the Italian Fest and parade, and for St. Johns United Church of Christ, where he was a member. He was a big supporter of the arts and enjoyed attending events at the Muny and the Fox Theater. He loved plants, flowers, and the beauty of nature. Ray enjoyed spending time and being involved with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Martha, nee Pestone, Castello; a brother, Theodore J. Castello Sr.; and three sisters, Londa Sheu, Delores Manus, and Velma Schlechting.
Surviving are his nieces and nephews; Theodore J. (Barbara) Castello Jr., Terry (Teresa) Castello, Tom (Mary) Castello, Delores (Earl) Louvier, and Jane Mauer; a sister-in-law, Darlene Castello; great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
