November 22, 1950 – July 29, 2014
Lynn Melvin Whitney, age 63, from Fontana, CA passed away at his home in Yucaipa on Tuesday, July 29th, 2014 after a long battle of leukemia.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Helen, and his brother Doug. He is survived by his wife, Mary; two daughters, Renee (Augie) Castro (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) and Tawnya (Alan) Namminga (Mobile, AL); son, Michael (Brandon) Whitney (Yucaipa, CA); step-daughter Jennie (Bobby) Pearce (Amherst, OH) and step-son Jeff (Suranee) Waleszonia (Calimesa, CA); brother, Gary (Janie) Whitney; and grandchildren, Tre, Blake, Charlotte, Aubrey, Kylie and Auria.
Lynn Whitney was born in Warren, Ohio on November 22nd, 1950. He moved to California when he was a year and a half old. Lynn was raised in Fontana, CA and lived there for most of his life. Lynn graduated from Fontana High School (FoHi) in 1969. Lynn moved to Yucaipa, CA and lived there for several years before his recent passing.
Lynn was married to Yolanda Valenzuela (Huegel) for 22 years, and together they had three children. Lynn remarried Mary Waleszonia (Papandrea) in 2003, but they have been together for the past 16 years.
Lynn worked for Kaiser Steel for 15.5 years before it closed down. He then worked for McGuire Corp. for a year and a half as an Electrician. Lynn finished his career working with California Steel for 30 years as an Electrician and Planner. He medically retired due to his illness this past year.
Lynn was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend; he loved his children and grandchildren with all of his heart and spoke of them often; he loved his dogs, and was a great craftsman as well! He will be greatly missed.
There is a memorial viewing scheduled for Thursday, August 7th, from 4pm-8pm at Green Acres Memorial Park in Bloomington, CA. Services are scheduled for Friday, August 8th, at 10am, also held at Green Acres.
