Violet E. Hames Law, age 83, of Tye went to be with the Lord, Friday August 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Tye Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Ritter officiating. Burial will follow at Tye Cemetery under the care and direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Abilene, TX. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Violet was born January 22, 1931 in Belleview, Florida to Winters B. and Mary Eleanor Hames. She married Kennon Law on April 16, 1950. She was a long-time resident of Tye. Being a member of Tye Baptist Church, she served the Lord for many years. She loved the community where the family owned and operated a business for many years. Violet loved her community and served Tye as city councilwoman, city secretary, and mayor.
Violet loved her family and always put them before herself. Her family loved and honored her and cherished her example of the life she lived. Her grandchildren adored her. Violet was always willing to help others whenever she had an opportunity. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kennon Law, Sr., grandson, Brandon Law, and three brothers from Florida.
Remaining behind to cherish Violet's sweet memory are her sons, Kennon Law, Jr. and wife Janet, and Thomas M. Law and wife Sherreta; her daughters, Carrie Copeland and husband David, and Kindra Smith and husband Kenneth; her brothers, Donald Hames, Gene Hames, Dean Hames, and Peek Hames, all of Florida; her sister, Mary Ann McIntyre; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Violet's grandsons, Jason Heuerman, Brian Toogood, Bryan Law, Pete Modica, Nathan Smith, Colten Law, and Wayne Patterson. Jr. pallbearer will be Reid Heuerman.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, make a donation in Violet's memory to any
charity or organization of your choice.
