Buck Santini, loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his home of 64 years on August 12, 2014. He was 93 years old. Buck was born on 6/24/21 in San Bernardino; the fourth of seven children. He worked at his family’s Twin Palms Dairy until age 17 when he entered the Navy in 1941 to serve his country in World War II. Buck served as a Chief Mechanic on LST 333 in the Mediterranean. He survived his ship being torpedoed and was reassigned to LST 503 which carried troops and supplies to the beaches of Normandy during D-Day. After honorable discharge from the Navy, Buck worked for Fuller Glass Company and later owned his own glass shop; Inland Empire Glass. He operated this successful business for over twenty years. Even though Buck was most honored to have served in WWII, he felt his greatest achievement was to have helped raise his granddaughter Courtney. He was most proud of her, as he often told anyone who would listen. Buck was a widower of 37 years having been married to Irene Santini for more than 30 years. He is survived by a daughter; Sheri of Running Springs, a granddaughter; Courtney of Oceanside, and several nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his family, friends, neighbors, and dog-Jet. A special thanks to his friend and caregiver Frank Palmer. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 23rd at Montecito Veterans Memorial at 9:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
