Hear ye, hear ye! The Mayor of Green Hills Starbucks has enjoyed his last cup of coffee on this Earth. John. M. Thrower, age 79, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on the 14th of August 2014. He was born on the 2nd of August 1935 in Bon Aqua, TN to Michael and Maude Thrower. They and big sister Nancy have already put on a fresh pot of coffee in Heaven.
John attended Hillsboro High School, Middle Tennessee State, and Cumberland School of Law. He served in the Korean War and was a proud member of the Post 7 legion and was a Disabled American Veteran.
John was an avid golfer and hosted a Labor Day Golf Tournament at Fairfield Glade that spanned over 20 years. Since he retired, you could find him on the bench at Green Hills Mall Starbucks daily. There he met some of the most amazing people whom we will always consider friends and family.
John is survived by his loving wife Laura, daughter Lee (Bruce) Garner, son Michael, daughter Abby, daughter Sara (Adam) Maltby as well as his grandchildren Josh, Michael, Leela, Averi, Ean, Ellie, David, and Gabriel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project and Alive Hospice. Many thanks to to his nurses and doctors who provided comfort to him and the family during his short illness. And many hugs and thanks to our friends who helped us in this difficult time. Let's all raise our coffee mugs in a toast to John!
