Henry (Hank) Arend Sr. passed away August 9, 2014, after a long illness. He was born January 9th, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, the 3rd of 5 children. A decorated veteran of World War II, having fought both in the Pacific and European theatres, he returned home in 1946 to begin his career in the automotive repair industry. Henry married his wife Regina in 1948 and moved to San Francisco in 1952. They later moved to Novato where they raised their six children. Hank worked several years as a service manager in car dealerships in San Francisco and Marin. He opened his own business, General Auto Repair in San Rafael in 1967, and later moved it to Terra Linda. He was much loved by his customers and friends and was greatly missed when he retired in 1987. Hank enjoyed many hours boating locally and in the Sacramento Delta. He was a member of the San Rafael and Port Sonoma Yacht Clubs, and The Lions and Elks Clubs. He was a founding parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Novato and in his later years could often be seen getting his early morning walk in before Mass at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Regina (Jean) in 2001, and is survived by his loving children; Hank Jr. (Nancy) of Windsor, CA; Mary (David) of Louisville, KY; Geoff (Barbara) of Rohnert Park, CA; Gina (Juan) of Olympia, WA; Pat (Sue) of Napa, CA; Cathy (Rob) of Phoenix, AZ; 23 grandchildren, 11 great grand children and many nieces and nephews.
