Allen W. Wright, age 86, passed away August 25, 2014. He was born Thursday in Nashville, TN December 8, 1927 to the late Harvey and Barbara Wright, and is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Jessie and granddaughter, Leah.
Allen had a tremendous love for his family and adoring wife of 6 years, Bettye Walden Kirby Wright. They were members of the Goodlettsville Church of Christ. He also had many friends in the Middle Tennessee Ford “Model A” Club in which he was involved with for more than three decades. He also enjoyed his many friends in music and loved to play the saxophone.
Mr. Wright served in the Air Force during World War II and returned to a career in the trucking business, which he owned and operated in Goodlettsville for many years. He was loved by so many and always had a kind word to say. A true gentleman, and friend to all he met. He will be missed and remembered always.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye; brother, Johnny Wright; daughter, Harriette (Frank); sons, Jerry Wright, Ricky (Dawn) Wright; step-son, Les (Yolanda) Kirby; step-daughter, Lisa (Danny) Cutrell; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, at Goodlettsville Church of Christ, with Bro. Charles Baugh and Bro. Ray Eanes officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The Model A Ford group will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goodlettsville Church of Christ, City of Children’s, Mexican Mission.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mr. Wright at a visitation Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, and Thursday, one hour prior at the church.
