Philip J. Alesi Sr., 84, of New Fairfield entered into eternal rest at his residence on Dec.31st, after a long illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, and worked as a tool and die maker until his retirement.
He was a loving husband for 59 years to his wife Maureen, father to Penny, Phil Jr. and wife Debbie, Jimmy and wife Fran, and Joe and wife Rhonda and grandfather to Matthew and Joseph.
Phil was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, fishing, and hunting. He had a lifelong passion for music; playing guitar, mandolin, and singing. He also enjoyed traveling and did so extensively until his illness. He was involved in scouting and was a former troop leader and den chief. Phil was also a very active member in The New Fairfield Veterans Association, and was a devoted NY Yankee fan. He also enjoyed social gatherings and was often the life of the party.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be held on Fri. January 9th at The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, from 5-8PM, followed Sat. with a military burial at Wooster Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Phil’s family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tn.38105 or a charity of your choice.
The family also extends sincere gratitude to the Praxair Cancer Center and the Regional Hospice of Western Ct. for their care and compassion.
