Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Dongan Hills and graduated from Monsignor Farrell High School.
Mr. Bruscella relocated to Manalapan, N.J., in 1986 and settled in Myrtle Beach in 2000.
He worked for 25 years for the city Department of Sanitation, and retired as a district superintendent in 1999.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Farmstead/Meadowlands Golf Club, where he enjoyed playing in the men's golf league.
Mr. Bruscella served as a guardian ad litem in the South Carolina Court System.
He was devoted to his family and his greatest joy was being with his grandson, who was the light of his life, family said.
Surviving are his wife of almost 40 years, the former Amanda Pierce; his son, Daniel III; his daughter, Sabrina Hilliard; two brothers, James and Michael, and his grandson.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills. Arrangements include cremation.
