Col. Kenneth A. Howard of Dunwoody passed away on June 26, 2015 at his home. Born on December 12, 1923, an Atlanta native he graduated from Boy’s High School in 1942. He served in the US Navy in WWII as a “Tin Can Sailor” in the Pacific Theater. After his service he then graduated from Emory University Law School in 1950. Kenneth enlisted in the US Army in 1951 and again went to war in Vietnam. As an attorney and a trial Judge, he presided over many My Lai Trials and retired as a Col. In 1975. He was a Masonic Past Master, a Shriner and he loved the Atlanta Braves. He is survived by his wife, Sarah M. Howard; children, Sterling Howard of Atlanta, Connie Grawert of Brisbane, Australia and Ken Howard of Atlanta; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sterling and Olive Howard and brother Henry Howard. The family will receive friends at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill on Monday from 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta with full military honors.
