Scott was born on February 10, 1986 in Lawrenceville, GA, son of Gil and Connie Salter.
Scott graduated from Cass High School and later graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in education. He returned to Cass High School to teach Language Arts and was a faithful faculty member for five years. His students were the light of his world and he worked relentlessly to help them succeed. In his spare time he loved to spend time outdoors hiking and camping with his family. He was an introvert at heart, but had a great love and respect to all those who were close to him. He is already greatly missed, but will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rastus and Lena Salter; uncle, Greg Salter; aunt and uncle, Janet and Bob Condon.
Survivors include his parents; brother, John Salter of Kennesaw, GA; sister, Joy Salter of Cartersville, GA; aunts and uncles, Tommy (Pam) Stuck of Memphis, TN, Glen (Dryden) Salter of Stone Mountain, GA, Gary (Linda) Salter of Alpharetta, GA, Jean and Robert Fuller of Athens, GA and Joy and Tim Brantley of Warner Robins, GA; a host of cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at four o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Theater of Cass High School with Dr. Don Hattaway and Don Startup officiating.
The family will receive friends from four o’clock in the afternoon until eight, on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Owen Funeral Home.
In honor of Scott’s work wardrobe, all attendees are asked to wear black shirts and pants with a bright colored tie.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions made at Bank of the Ozarks, Cartersville, GA to The Etowah Foundation, Scott Allen Salter Scholarship Fund.
The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all of those who helped them in the search for Scott, including but not limited to, The Cartersville City Police Department, The Bartow County Sherriff’s Department, The Department of Natural Resources, FBI, Army Corp of Engineers, Phoenix Air, Todd Browning, Cici’s Pizza, Chick -Fil-A, Gondoliers and all other helpers from the community. Scott was a firm believer in giving his love and support to the community and the outpouring of support shown to his family in their time of need was of such a great magnitude that will never be forgotten.
