Margot was born in Minneapolis and was a lifelong member of the St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church. She attended the U of M’s Horticulture program and remained an avid gardener for the rest of her life. In her career as an insurance liaison, she helped countless people navigate business and medical tragedies. Margot was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2012 and while fighting her own battle with the disease, also fought for others as an advocate for cancer research and awareness.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Emma May and sister, Mary Jo.
Survived by her father, Sigurd; brothers, Sigurd and Kevin; children, Ingrid Fairbanks, Carrie Summitt-Sparks, and Clayton Summitt; grandchildren, Nick, Hunter, Kaley, Riley, and Emma and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance.
