Wesley was born to Lauren S. and Amy E. Brown in Rockford, WA on Feb. 6, 1925 and passed away Jan. 29, 2017. He was a lifetime resident of Rockford, WA.
Wes graduated from Rockford High School and served in WWII with the Merchant Marines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Glen, Lauren, and Wayne and sisters Bertha Slinkard-Marlow and Maurine Bliesner. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Mertes of Moses Lake, WA several nieces and nephews (knowing Wes as “Uncle Wormy”) and great nieces and nephews and one great, great-nephew.
He retired from the Freeman School District as a bus driver. Wes enjoyed Trap Shooting, bird hunting, fishing, riding horses, and going on pack trips. He also enjoyed many camping trips with the motorhome with family members. They went on several long drives and went to many rodeos.
At age 80, he rode his prized horse in the SE Spokane County Fair with four generations of the Brown family.
In addition to farming, he raised cattle and was especially proud of putting up hundreds of acres of hay with help from family members and local Rockford town’s people. Wes was acknowledged as “Wheat King” at the SE Spokane County Fair in 1987.
