Mr. Garcia worked in the fields as a young man. At a "five and ten cent" store, he met his future wife, Maria. It was love at first sight and they married July 6, 1958 and moved to Grand Prairie in 1965. Mr. Garcia worked for the State of Texas Highway Department for 15 years, worked for the City of Grand Prairie for 25 years, and became a school crossing guard with Grand Prairie ISD for 10 years. He loved music and dancing. He was very congenial and loved to talk with everyone he met. He played tennis and was a big sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He was a member of AMVETS Post 89 and served in the National Guard for 12 years. Mr. Garcia was a wonderful, caring man who loved to take walks and sing to his wife.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his loving wife, Maria; children, Patricia Martinez, Juanita Hernandez (Robert), Maria Albina Rodriguez; grandchildren, Priscilla Garcia, Kristy Hernandez, Robert Martinez, Robert Hernandez, Jr. (Gabby), Juan Martinez, Michael Hernandez, Rosa Guardiola (Olivia), Israel Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Robert Joseph Hernandez, Anthonie Farris, Aaron Farris, J.C. Lopez, Adrian Farris, Adam Hernandez, Israel Rodriguez, Jr., Layla Hernandez, Isabella Martinez, Immanueal Rodriguez; a sister, Teresa Gonzalez and brother, Eleseo Garcia.
