Christine Stover, 92, of Abilene, TX went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday March 26, 2017. Funeral services will be 11:00a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory St. with Rev. Stan Allcorn officiating. Burial will be in Devine Evergreen Cemetery in Devine, TX at 10:00a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Christine was born on June 22, 1924 in Brownwood, TX to Charlie Calvin Ward and Cora Vida Ward. She attended school in May, TX and at the age of 12 she sang on a Coleman Radio program. Christine was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed making and painting ceramics.
Christine married the love of her life, James D. (Smokey) Stover on February 20, 1982. Their marriage was cut short when cancer took Smokey too soon. Christine was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Cora Ward; stepmother, Velma Ward; brothers, Hershel, D Raymond, Monroe, Amos, and Doyle Ward; sister, Pauline Irving; son, Donald Wayne Boyd; and great-grandson, Larry Wayne West. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ritchie of San Antonio; her son, Calvin (Pete) Boyd and wife, Kathy of Cisco; grandchildren, Felicia and Button West, Denise Almendarez, Katrice Smith, Chad and Tammy Boyd, Jason and Tonya Boyd, Jacob Boyd, and Jamie and Bennie Ramirez; fifteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
