Hulda May Folkert, 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2017, at American House in Holland, Michigan. Hulda was born in 1919 to Henry and Hattie Rigterink. She was a graduate of Hope College with a degree in education, was an active member of Overisel Reformed Church, served as a Sunday school teacher and in the women’s ministry.
Hulda was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Irvin Folkert in January 2016, a grandson, Bretton Folkert in August 2016 and brothers Jay Rigterink, Merle Rigterink and Raymond Rigterink. She is survived by her children David (Jane) Folkert, Alan (Judi) Folkert, Carl (Barbara) Folkert; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. Hulda is also survived by her brother-in-law Wayne Folkert.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Overisel Reformed Church, 4706 142nd Ave., Holland, Michigan 49423. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, Holland.
