Mr. David Franklin Prince entered into rest at home on Saturday, June 10, 2017, after a courageous three-year battle with esophageal cancer. Mr. Prince was born in Lee County, AL on December 28, 1939, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Walter McIntyre Prince. He graduated in the Class of 1958 from Columbus (GA) High School. He attended the University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1963 and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Following his graduation, he attended Officer Training School at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He served in the Vietnam War in 1967 and 1968 at Cam Ranh Air Base and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Mr. Prince was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Camilla Webber Prince; daughters, Rachael Prince Peek (Will), Elizabeth Rutland Weigle (Reed); and sons David Franklin Prince Jr., Stuart Swift Prince (Denise), James Wells Rutland IV (Rachel) and Arthur Pelzer Webber Rutland (Marilena); and a sister, Joanne Prince Pair (Doyle). He was pre-deceased by his brother Walter McIntyre Prince Jr. He was loved and adored by nineteen grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, June 13 at 1:00 pm followed by memorial services at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Claude E. McRoberts officiating. A private burial service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers include grandsons Roland Guy Peek II, Pelzer Whitt Rutland, James Wells Rutland V, John Gunby Peek, Randolph Grayson Rutland and brother-in-law Joel David McClinton Sr. Honorary pallbearers include Mobley Gordon Estes, Gary Lon Griffin, Henry Woodruff Swift Jr., James Edward Norris Jr., Morris Philip Wynn Jr., William R. Griffin, and Emery Kyle Kyser. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1728 S Hull Street, Montgomery, AL 36104 or Hospice of Montgomery, 1111 Holloway Park, Montgomery, AL 36117.
