Agnes P. Black, age 103, of Fall River, passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at Clifton Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late William J. and Bridget (Keenan) Black, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1932, she worked as a telephone operator at the former New England Telephone and Telegraph for forty years retiring as Supervisor. She was an active communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church and belonged to a quilting group at the First Congregational Church.
Known for her great sense of fashion, she enjoyed traveling and baking.
She is survived by four nephews, F. Robert, William P., Michael T. and James A. Black; three nieces, Eleanor B. Furtado, Eileen B. Kelly and Margaret M. Maccarone and many great nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Raymond T., Francis R., Donald B., David G. and William K. Black and the aunt of the late Pauline Minstrell and David Black.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 9:30AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Visiting hours prior to her service from 9:30 to 10:30AM in the Funeral Home. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Catholic Charities Appeal, 450 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
