Marcella May Weakley, 96 of Normal passed away on Thursday September 14, 2017 at McLean County Nursing Home. Her funeral will be at Eastlawn Funeral Home on Tuesday September 19 at 3:00 PM with visitation at 2:00 PM.
Marcella was born on February 9, 1921, in Leroy, the daughter of Park and Norma Karr Simmons. She married William Weakley on May 12, 1942 in Fort Lewis, WA. She is survived by two children; Mary Beth Tobin, Normal and William (Mary Ellen) Weakley, Ann Arbor, MI., 5 grandchildren Kelly (Dawn) Tobin, Teresa (John) Blakeney, Brian (Tracy) Tobin, Thad (Evelynne) Weakley, Adam (Linda) Weakley, and 11 great grandchildren; Kyle, Kerrigan, Zinnia Tobin; Tyler & Cooper Blakeney, Elisha, Grace, Gabe and Ellana Tobin, Aesop Adams and Aidan Kuhenel; one brother, Parke (Sue) Simmons, Draper, UT.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, her dear beloved Bill and two sisters; Marge Hargitt and Betty Travis.
Marcy graduated from Bloomington High School in 1939. Her first job was Midland Tailors as a seamstress. She worked in food service at East Bay Camp in the 1950's, Four Seasons Club as a hostess and retired from a long career as a clerk & typist for Country Companies in 1985. She was a 30+ year member of TOPS and a VFW Auxiliary member.
She had a way of making everyone feel special. She was a great mother, a fun-loving grandma and a friend to many. She loved playing cards, and instilled a love for all sorts of games in her family. She played the piano and loved to sing. She enjoyed traveling & camping in many states over the years and kept detailed journals of her travels. She was well known for her delicious cookies. She was a wonderful hostess and always made everyone feel welcome. She had a great sense of humor and was not afraid to laugh at herself. She loved to quilt and spent many hours making quilts for loved ones. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
