On September 27, 2017, Clarice Shortt aka Mrs. Carroll Lee Shortt (nee Clarice Nelson) left her family in Orlando, Florida and joined her husband, Lee Shortt, who had passed twenty-three years earlier. For 48 years, together with her husband, Clarice guided her family with love and wisdom. After his passing on April 2, 1994, she became the center of the Shortt family – the glue that kept everyone together. She will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved her. Throughout her life, Clarice was unusually strong and independent. As a young bride and mother of three surviving children, she travelled with her career soldier husband around the world to exotic locales including Alaska, Turkey, and Hawaii, making lifelong friends wherever they went. Clarice was a true lady, and always made an impression; she was known and appreciated for her warmth, grace, and kindness. She took great pains to show her love and respect for the people in her life, and that was reflected back to her by the strong devotion of her friends and family. Clarice was fearless, and never lost her strong independence. At 89, she continued to live life to the fullest - driving her own car, living in her own home and refusing to let age define what she could do. Mrs. Clarice W. Shortt was the only daughter of Wilhelm Nelson and Melinda Tollefson, of Detroit Lakes Minnesota. Her daughter and eldest granddaughter were with her at the time of her death. She is survived by her three children, Terrence Lee Shortt, Donnette Adamczyk, and Stephen B Shortt, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
