L.A. Noles was born on January 26, 1934, in Throckmorton, Texas. He was the second of six siblings. He passed away on October 5, 2017, at the age of 83. L.A. married his college sweetheart, Alathia Baldwin, on April 2, 1957. He received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Education from Texas Tech University. L.A. served in the U.S. Army for two years, station at Fort Riley, KS, and Scofield Barracks, HI. After his military service, he spent 40 years whistling in the halls as a teacher, coach and administrator. Mr. Noles is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and Teddy Noles, and sister Patricia Woodhouse. L.A. is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alathia; 3 children, Jana and husband David Meyer of Webster City, IA, David and wife Staci Noles of Levelland, TX, and Jack and wife Karen of Lubbock, TX. L.A. and Alathia have seven grandchildren, Kevin and wife Diane Noles of Midland, TX, Kirk and wife Michaela Noles of Lubbock, Kelly and wife Brittney Noles of Lubbock, Blake Noles of Lubbock, Baily Noles of Lubbock, Lindsey Meyer of Lubbock, and Derrick Meyer of Webster City, IA. Mr. and Mrs. Noles also have three great-grandchildren. “Papa”, was crazy about his family and was cherished by his kids, grandkids and “school kids”. Memorial services will be Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland, TX, with a visitation prior beginning at 1:00 pm. It is requested that any memorial donations be made to The Children’s Home of Lubbock.
