1935-2017
Byron Winfield Taylor, age 82, passed away November 17, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born October 12, 1935 in Long Beach, California to parents; Dudley Winfield Taylor and Genevieve Jeanette Rooney. He attended Grant Union High School and CSUN. He married Solvi Marion Olsen on July 20, 1963 in Mexico. He is a member of the L.D.S. Church.
During his lifetime, Byron was passionate about religion, running and reading. His zest for learning made him a go-to for answers. Byron was asked at 24 to teach a gospel doctrine class, prior to being baptized in the L.D.S. church a year later.
Byron was also part of the Santa Monica running community-this was before running became trendy. He was thrilled to attend track meets and help train. Byron married the love of his life, Solvi in 1963, he adored her. They were-are-committed to one another eternally.
Byron proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1953 to 1961. He loved his country and our flag. Byron loved to surprise his children on Saturday Mornings with a trip to Magic Mountain, Disneyland, or just donuts. Byron is survived by his wife, Solvi and by his favorite and only daughter, Jeanette. He is also survived by his Siblings Cathy A. Jacobs, his two grand dogs Bambina and Gelato. He was preceded in death by both parents and sons; Byron W.S. Taylor, Erik C. Taylor, Emile R. Taylor, and brother Ronald S. Taylor.
At Byron’s request there will be no funeral service. Please join us by eating a piece of chocolate-his favorite. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn in the Garden of The Roses.
